Macs Software System

Case Study

THE COMPANY

Service Warehousing is a small, independent, third-party warehousing company in Radcliffe, between Bolton and Rochdale, just north of Manchester.  It’s owned by David Mason who bought the company in 1989.  Service Warehousing stores and delivers almost 2500 separate product lines - held as pallets, rolls, bales, cartons and loose cargo - for a wide range of clients. David’s team of 12 is proud to support its customers, large and small, tailoring its service to meet their precise needs.

THE CHALLENGE

The company was using a UNIX®, multiuser warehouse management system that had worked well for many years.  However, when the supplier stopped providing support for the product it was necessary for David to look for a more up-to-date alternative.  In doing so, David would be able to improve his company’s day-to-day efficiency and provide additional services to his customers.

THE SOLUTION

After researching the market David chose MACSwms from MACS Software. He has now been running the two-user system since July 2010. “I chose MACS because it was very good value and I liked the people,” he said. “They were very helpful.”

David’s prime requirement was to make sure he could meet his customers’ needs. “With MACSwms it doesn’t matter what goods we are storing there’s a system for recording it, looking after it in the warehouse and dispatching it,” said David. “That flexibility is very important to us. It’s really easy to use. I particularly like the report writing feature which allows us to isolate any product and print out a report showing its status.”

“MACSwms offers a comprehensive solution, we do not use all the options but, as we never know who our next customer could be, it provides us with the future proofing we need, I like it that way,” said David. “It gives me the flexibility we need which is important, especially during these uncertain times, and the technical support from MACS is excellent. When you put your trust in a system you have to know that it will perform well and be absolutely reliable.  I have always had confidence in MACS.”
